Mobile candle filters are used to filter beer, wine and other beverages. From one cycle it is possible to obtain 30 - 60 hl of filtered beer per 1 m2 of basic filtration area.

Mobile candle filters have a basic filtration area of 1-4 m2. Larger filters that can be part of a complete filtration line are not mobile.

  • Low number of components that can deteriorate over time (there are no moving parts in the filter body)
  • The candles have a rigid construction - they do not vibrate to disturb the filter layer
  • Long service life of filter elements (candles)
  • The filters and their elements are easily cleaned and sanitized
  • By adhering to all of the recommended input parameters of the beer, we can guarantee an average of five yeast cells per 100 ml of filtered beer.

When filtering wine, the performance of the FKS filters can be increased to approximately twice the values given for beer.

For filtration of fruit juices and other liquids, we will determine the performance parameters of the filtration after an individual assessment.

When filtering wine, the output of the FKS filters increases almost twice the values given for the beer.

For filtration of fruit juices and other liquids, we determine the filtration performance parameters based on an individual assessment.

How cooperation works:

  • We will prepare a non-binding offer for you
  • We will help you choose the right equipment, or build a functional filter or stabilization line based on your requirements
  • We will supply and install the equipment and put it into full operation
  • We will help you optimize the filtration process or stabilization of beer
  • We will train the operators in its proper and safe use
  • We will provide warranty service.
  •
  • Performance of the equipment

The performance parameters depend on the input parameters of the filtered liquid, the types of filtration agents used and optimization of the operating parameters (flow through the filter, level of dosed filtration agents taking into account the increase in differential pressure).

The flow through the filter for the filtration of beer is in the range of 5 to 8 hl per hour per 1 m² of basic filtration area.

The total consumption of filtration agents (kieselguhr, ...) for basic alluvial and continuous dosing is 80 to 160g/hl of beer depending on its filterability (amount of yeast cells, proteins and colloids in unfiltered beer).

The capacity of one cycle is 30 - 60 hl of filtrate (filtered beer) per 1 m2 of basic filtration area.

The clarity of the filtrate according to the colloidal state of beer and the type of filtration agents used is 0.25 - 0.60 j. EBC.

  • Sanitation

All FKS candle filters can be washed with high-pressure water and air. This reliably removes kieselguhr residues and impurities, including kieselguhr residues wedged inside the crevasses of the candles, which is not possible with filtration screens.

In order to prevent the continuous accumulation of impurities and contamination by microorganisms, a cleaning (sanitation) process is carried out using a suitable combination of chemicals. Sanitation takes place either separately in the filter when the medium is prepared in the dispenser, or by using the relevant CIP station. Recommended sanitation and sterilization solutions include:

      • Hot water at a temperature of 58-90°C
      • Liquid sodium hydroxide solution (NaOH) at a concentration of 1-3% by weight and a temperature of 50-85°C followed by rinsing with hot water
      • Nitric acid (HNO3) at a concentration of 0.5-2% by weight and a temperature of 80-85°C followed by rinsing with hot water.
